Ghosted Foods artisan kitchen

Our Story

Born in Nagaland. Built on pickles.

A diplomat, a Naga woman, and a ghost pepper that refused to stay a hobby.

Where it started

Two cultures. One obsession.

They met in Mumbai. He was stationed there as a U.S. diplomat — a fifth-generation Wyoming native a long way from home. She grew up in Nagaland, a small state tucked into the hills of Northeast India that happens to be the birthplace of the Naga King Chili. The ghost pepper, it isn't just an ingredient there — it's woven into the food, the culture, and the identity of the people who grow it.

They started importing ghost peppers directly from Nagaland — first for their own kitchen, then for friends and family who couldn't stop asking for more. The peppers were different. Fresher, more complex, and nothing like anything available on a shelf. Once you tasted the real thing, there was no going back.

The bread and butter pickles came first. A classic American staple, finished with a ghost pepper influence that made people stop mid-bite. Word spread. Demand grew. A hobby turned into an obsession — and the obsession turned into Ghosted Foods.

How we grow

We listen. Then we turn it up.

“Heat without flavor is just pain. We're here for both.”

The Grim line started with customer feedback. People loved the bread and butter brine but kept asking for more heat. So we experimented with the Carolina Reaper — and landed on a home run. Same great flavor profile, higher heat level. That's the Grim philosophy: don't change what works, just turn it up for the people who want more.

The smoked honey is our newest chapter. Wyoming wildflowers produce some of the finest honey in the country, and pairing that with ghost pepper sourced directly from Nagaland felt like a natural extension of who we are — two cultures, one jar. It's just getting started, and we couldn't be more excited about where it's headed.

We buy our chilis directly from the farmers in Nagaland — no middlemen, no brokers. It keeps money in the hands of the people who grow the peppers, supports the local economy where the Naga King Chili originates, and means we're working with the purest product available anywhere. The line is expanding, but that principle never changes.

Direct from Nagaland

We source our ghost peppers directly from farmers in Nagaland — the birthplace of the Naga King Chili. No middlemen. The money goes to the people who grow it, and we get the purest peppers on earth.

Small-Batch Always

Every jar is made in small batches. We're scaling up, but we're not cutting corners. The same care that went into the first batch goes into every one that follows.
